At Boxer & Gerson, LLP, our ties to the labor movement stretch back to before our founding in 1977, and it is safe to say our firm has never lost touch with its labor roots. The current firm was an outgrowth of a leading labor law firm that included Joseph Grodin, who later went on to become a Justice of the California Supreme Court.
Co-founding partner Stewart Boxer, the son of a Teamster and husband of longtime United States Senator and Congresswoman Barbara Boxer, has a long history of union advocacy. His co-founding partner Michael Gerson has also served many Bay Area unions on labor issues and workers’ compensation over the years.
Over the years, we have worked with many of Northern California’s major labor unions to advance the rights of workers. Our support staff are members of Teamsters Local 856, and our firm has a commitment to patronize union businesses whenever possible.
Our firm has remained focused on advocating for California workers and their families through effective trial advocacy. Whenever the need arises, firm leaders have worked closely with the California Labor Federation and other union organizations to provide input on workers’ compensation reform and other legislation affecting California workers.
We also support pro-union candidates for political office, provided they meet qualifications important to their constituency.
Our workers’ compensation attorneys assist injured workers to obtain medical treatment, temporary disability payments, and other benefits before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
Union members who suffer serious injury or death because of dangerous machinery, subcontractor negligence, vehicle accidents, or other third party causes can turn to our personal injury trial lawyers for expert assistance.
Boxer & Gerson, LLP works cooperatively with many of Northern California’s largest unions. We advise business agents, stewards, and other union leaders on workers’ compensation issues, job safety, job site civil cases, and Social Security Disability for injured workers who are unable to return to the labor market.
Our lawyers are also available free of charge to conduct workshops for the staff and members of Bay Area locals. Many of our attorneys and staff members were themselves raised in union families, and we are pleased to participate in union picnics, luncheons, conferences, and other union-sponsored events.
If you are a union business representative interested in arranging a speaker or finding out how Boxer & Gerson can help your members, please contact Managing Partner John Harrigan at jharrigan@boxerlaw.whm.clientpreview.agency.
